What does the diagnosis of lipoedema mean?
Lipoedema is a chronic and progressive fat distribution disorder characterised by a symmetrical increase in subcutaneous fatty tissue. It mainly affects the legs or arms. The disproportion between the slim upper body and the voluminous lower half of the body or from the trunk to the extremities is particularly noticeable. In most cases, the fat distribution disorder is associated with pain.
Those affected are therefore often very sensitive to touch and even minor bumps can lead to bruising or haematoma. In advanced stages, bulge formations on the inner thighs can cause gait disturbances and skin irritation.

The health insurance fund will only cover the treatment under clearly defined conditions: the key requirements are a specialist diagnosis from a non-surgical discipline, at least six months of conservative treatment without sufficient success, and comprehensive documentation, including stable weight and appropriate BMI values. Under the statutory health insurance scheme (GKV), fixed thresholds apply, whilst private health insurance (PKV) also depends on the individual policy.

In general, it can be assumed that liposuction will last a lifetime if it has been carried out correctly. Above all, the condition of the skin, the natural ageing process and weight fluctuations play a role here. After liposuction, the reappearance of fat deposits in the treated areas is extremely rare, as the number of fat tissue cells is reduced in the long term as a result of liposuction.
In our experience, the fat tissue altered by lipoedema only reacts minimally to cryolipolysis treatments and we only recommend this treatment method in very specific situations.
The cost of liposuction varies and depends on various factors. For example, the region in question naturally plays a role. It is also possible to combine several regions, which can increase the costs. You will receive your individual cost plan from us during your personal consultation. The treatment costs include various items: Medical treatment costs, costs for the anaesthetic and aftercare. We will also be happy to advise you on financing options.
